Violin

New Zealand born Korean violinist KiHei Lee is excited to join the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra especially after developing as a musician through the orchestra’s Aspiring Musician and Fellow programmes.

KiHei is a violinist of Felice Duo, recipient of the 2019 Royal Overseas League Scholarship which took place in 2022 involving duo and solo recitals in London and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She is also a recipient of the Holdsworth Family Bach Prize and was a Young Artist of both the 2021 and 2022 Whakatipu Music festivals supported by the Hill Family Foundation. KiHei has been praised for her wide range of musicality and from the 2021 National String Competition, she received Best Performance of a NZ work and 2nd prize.

KiHei holds a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours from the University of Auckland where she learned under the tutelage of Stephen Larsen. She further continued her studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London with violinist Philippe Honoré, graduating with a Master of Arts with Distinction and a Diploma for gaining high marks from her Master’s recital.

The violin KiHei plays on is a Klotz made available through a generous loan by the Hill Family Foundation for Art and Music.
