Eroica

Giordano Bellincampi starts the season with a blast. Anna Clyne’s imaginative This Midnight Hour is wild, powerful music by a composer at the top of her game.

Then the marvellous Russian violinist Ilya Gringolts plays Shostakovich’s turbulent concerto, a work close to his heart.

Beethoven took music into uncharted territory with his Third Symphony, the biggest and most heroic yet written. This music has lost none of its elemental force.
