A very special MTA with a trio of Auckland Philharmonia stars!
Our guest interviewee will be Robert Johnson Auckland Philharmonia librarian. He will talk with us about getting scores on stands in time for every concert.
We will then be treated to music from the bass section. John Mietus and Lachlan Radford will curate a selection of music for us largely below Middle C.
John started playing double bass at the age of 4 and went on to study extensively in the USA. He has performed with the New World Symphony, Houston Symphony, Warner Bros. Studio Orchestra, and the Cleveland Philharmonic (to name a few). John has also had an impressive solo career. In between performing, John teaches and inspires young musicians in the El Sistema programme.
Before joining Auckland Phil, Lachlan performed with Orchestra Wellington, NZSO, BBC Concert Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. He also performs across many other genres, including drum’n’bass, hip hop, flamenco, and pop. Lachlan encourages young bass players through the Piccolo Bass project, of which he is a co-founder.
