Violinist Minglun Liu was previously appointed as Principal Second Violin of the Grammy Award-winning Louisville Orchestra. He has appeared in concertmaster roles in several orchestras, including the New World Symphony, Pacifica Music Festival Orchestra, Yong Siew Toh Conservatory Orchestra, the Stuttgart Festival Orchestra, and the Shanghai Youth Orchestra. During his leadership, Minglun has worked under the baton of Michael Tilson Thomas, Stéphane Denève, Lahav Shani, Teddy Abram, Ken-David Masur, and Lan Shui.

As a dedicated chamber musician, Minglun is the founding member and first violin of the Eurus String Quartet. His quartet was awarded the 2019 Quartet Residency at Beethoven-Haus in Bonn, Germany, and was appointed as the Resident String Quartet at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music under the guidance of the Pacifica Quartet. The Eurus String Quartet was also part of the musicians of the Beethoven on Tour- New York exhibition in 2019.

As a soloist, Minglun won first prize at the Qing Yuan International Violin Competition and He Nan International Violin Competition. He was also a prize winner at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion Concerto Competition and Yong Siew Toh Concerto Competition. He was invited as a visiting artist to the Stika Music Festival in 2023 with cellist Zuill Bailey. Minglun had the privilege to study and work with renowned artists such as Augustin Hadelich, Gil Shaham, Pierre Amoyal, Feng Ning, and Vadim Repin. With his chamber ensembles, he had the opportunity to work with the Juilliard Quartet, Miró Quartet, Hagen Quartet, Pacifica Quartet, and Takács Quartet.

Minglun received his Performer Diploma and Master’s degree from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music as a student of Mark Kaplan with a full scholarship. He previously studied at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music with Jun Zuo and Shanghai Conservatory of Music with Mengda Lu.

Away from the violin, Minglun is a passionate cook and a sports lover. Minglun has an 8-week-old dog named Gallon.
