Melbourne based violinist Kathryn Taylor was appointed to the first violin section of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 2005, often acting in principal roles. She is also the first violinist in the string quartet ‘Quartz’, joining the ensemble in 2016.
She also performs with the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, often as principal first violin.
Kathryn has performed regularly as a soloist throughout her career, including with orchestras such as the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Doctors Orchestra and many community orchestras.
Kathryn studied at the Australian National Academy of Music in 2003, followed by further studies in Dublin with Eyal Kless. She has also had lessons and performed in master classes with Maxim Vengerov, Salvatore Accardo, Takacs Quartet and many other notable international teachers.
