Clara-Jumi Kang
Violin
Clara-Jumi Kang took up the violin aged three, and at seven won a scholarship to Juilliard to study with Dorothy Delay. Kang went on to win the Indianapolis International (2010), Sendai (2010) and Seoul (2009) violin competitions.
She has performed with orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, Munich Philharmonic, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, with conductors such as Shani, Chung, P Järvi, Petrenko and Yamada. Recent highlights include performances at the Hollywood Bowl Festival, the Salzburg Festival and the BBC Proms.
A devoted chamber musician, Kang has collaborated with musicians including Janine Jansen, Gidon Kremer and Mischa Maisky.
Kang plays the 1702 ‘Thunis’ Stradivarius.
