Andrew Pogson

Andrew Pogson is a concert producer, director and presenter with more than twenty five years in the music industry. He is the founder and Creative Director of Concert Lab, a Melbourne-based company behind some of Australia's most ambitious orchestral events, working with the nation's major orchestras and some of the world's biggest artists.
Before founding Concert Lab in 2021, Andrew spent over a decade at the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra as Head of Presentations and Senior Manager, Special Projects, where he conceived, produced and directed a string of world premieres — among them the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular, Video Games Unplugged, Babe in Concert and The Film Music of Nick Cave & Warren Ellis — and programmed concerts with artists including Sting, Randy Newman, Ben Folds, Diana Krall, Tim Minchin and Kate Miller-Heidke.
His work has been recognised at the highest level. He conceived and produced both Flight Facilities Live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Symphonica with Armand van Helden, each nominated for Best Australian Contemporary Concert at the Helpmann Awards; the recording of the former won the 2016 ARIA Award for Best Classical Album.
As a presenter, Andrew co-created and hosts Art of the Score live in concert — celebrations of the great film composers in programs devoted to Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Joe Hisaishi, James Horner and the music of The Lord of the Rings. He has presented these with every one of Australia's major symphony orchestras, and internationally with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Hong Kong Philharmonic and the Auckland Philharmonia.
A jazz musician by training, Andrew holds a Master of Music from the Australian National University and is a long standing Board member of the Melbourne Jazz Co-operative. Alongside the Art of the Score film-music podcast, he hosted the podcast of musical-comedy trio Tripod for many years, and has collaborated with the trio on numerous concerts, including the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra premiere This Gaming Life.
