Your Support Matters

The power of music is remarkable. It can be intensely personal and also bring entire communities together. The Auckland Philharmonia uses music to make people’s lives richer and to inspire a passion for orchestral music throughout our city.

Donations play an essential part in making our work possible. They underpin the orchestra’s on-stage and community presence and ensure that each performance is the absolute best it can be.

Your donation helps us to teach our children, work with our communities, perform across our city and connect on a personal level through workshops, mentoring and neighbourhood concerts.

It was my connection with Auckland Philharmonia music education outreach that kept me motivated. Every time I came out of a concert, I felt motivated and inspired.

- Caleb Goldsmith

In 2009, six-year-old Caleb Goldsmith attended an Auckland Philharmonia APO 4 Kids concert in the Bruce Mason Centre. “I specifi cally remember doing the orchestra walk through to Radetsky March, and the instrument displays in the foyer. That concert inspired me to become a musician,” reflects Caleb.

Caleb is now studying percussion at the University of Auckland and in April performed with the orchestra alongside his teachers, Percussion Section Principal Eric Renick and Timpani Section Principal Steve Logan, at Tunes 4 Tamariki, Auckland Philharmonia’s programme for young audiences.

“It was especially cool getting to play Radetsky March, in the same venue 15 years later, but professionally in the orchestra,” says Caleb, “and I loved the orchestra walk through. Hopefully I inspired other kids that were there that day too.”
