In response to high demand for tickets for JBWere presents: The Magic of John Williams concert on 29 August, Auckland Philharmonia has announced a second performance of this concert the prior evening. This ‘prequel’ performance gives more movie music-lovers the chance to see the greatest John Williams works in full symphonic splendour, conducted by one of the world's foremost experts in Williams’ music.
Superstar French conductor Stéphane Denève, a close friend and collaborator of John Williams, will lead the Auckland Phil in both performances of The Magic of John Williams concerts, bringing his trademark flair to Williams’ greatest works — from Star Wars and Harry Potter to E.T. and Jurassic Park.
Interspersed between the music, Denève will share his personal insights and anecdotes from the podium, giving audiences a unique ‘close encounter’ perspective of Williams and his magnificent music.
Described as ‘one of the greatest composers in film’ by The Guardian, multi-award-winning American composer John Williams has written music for over 100 movies during his extraordinary 70-year career, including some of our most memorable and beloved blockbusters.
