Arts organisations to give Aucklanders a BOOT

Four leading arts organisations have teamed up to connect young Aucklanders with the city’s vibrant arts scene, in a collaboration called BOOT – Ballet, Opera, Orchestra and Theatre.

The Royal New Zealand Ballet, New Zealand Opera, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and Auckland Theatre Company have developed a package of performances designed to introduce people aged 20-40 to a variety of performing arts in Auckland. The BOOT subscription offers four shows throughout the 2016 season – one from each organisation – at an exclusive package price of $160; only $40 per show.

Subscribers will also enjoy a host of other benefits including opportunities to socialise with other individuals who share a love of arts and culture. The featured shows in BOOT have been curated to ensure subscribers can enjoy one performance each quarter in 2016 and highlight some of the most exciting shows each organisation has to offer.

2016 BOOT shows include: Auckland Theatre Company’s production of Polo by Dean Parker in February, the Royal New Zealand Ballet’s The Wizard of Oz in June, New Zealand Opera’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, A Musical Thriller in September, and Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra’s Outraged in October.

Barbara Glaser, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra Chief Executive, says BOOT offers arts newcomers a chance to experience Auckland’s artistic delights at an outstanding price. “We know there are many young Aucklanders who are keen to support the arts but also understand that there are some traditional barriers like subscription prices and committing to one organisation’s season. BOOT offers people the chance to enjoy the benefits of subscriber status at a reduced price and experience a fantastic variety of performances from some of the country’s leading arts organisations.”

A BOOT subscription is also a perfect gift for hard-to-buy-for family and friends at Christmas, Glaser adds. “It’s a fantastic way to gift someone a year filled with artistic delights.”
