Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (APO) has announced further changes to the 2018 Unwrap the Music series. This includes both Unwrap Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade in September and Unwrap Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker in November.
Unfortunately, due to illness, presenter Richard Gill has withdrawn from his APO engagements for the remainder of the year. The APO has enlisted two highly-regarded music education specialists to fulfil the presenting and conducting duties for these concerts.
The first is Australian conductor and radio presenter, Graham Abbott, who will present Unwrap the Music: Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade on Wednesday 12 September. Abbott was the APO’s former Unwrap presenter from 2010 – 2014.
Australian conductor and broadcaster Guy Noble will present Unwrap the Music: Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker on Thursday 22 November. Noble is a familiar face to APO audiences, having presented Unwrap the Music concerts in recent years. He also presents a similar series for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.
APO Chief Executive Barbara Glaser says, “We extend our heartfelt thanks to Richard Gill for the enormous contribution he has made to our Unwrap the Music series. I’m sure our audiences will join me in wishing Richard all the very best.”
