Coming up on Sunday 10 September 2023, APO’s Community Play In will bring together hundreds of community singers and instrumentalists alongside APO musicians to lift the lid of the Auckland Town Hall through the powerful sound of a shared passion for orchestral music.
The popularity of this fantastic community initiative continues to grow, with over 540 community musicians and singers already signed up to take part in this year’s event, and spaces for instrumentalists now full. There are still spaces available for singers to join the choir, so even if you have never sung in a choir before, sign up to join the fun, and connect with other Aucklanders in a free afternoon of spectacular music-making in the Auckland Town Hall. Singers can still sign up prior to the event here to receive the music in advance and get stuck in!
The music repertoire for the day is a fantastic selection that is sure to delight a range of musical tastes; from the enchanting slow sound of Fauré’s Pavane, to Offenbach’s more upbeat Orpheus in the Underworld: Can-Can, there’s a tempo for everyone.
It’s also free entry (and no tickets are required) to watch the epic final performance later in the afternoon. Come along and hear the sounds of this fantastic community initiative that connects Aucklanders with music.

APO Connecting provides concerts and experiences that bring together APO’s professional musicians with communities, schools, and individuals across Tāmaki Makaurau to ignite their passion for orchestral music.
