Douglas Cross has held the position of Principal Trombone with the Auckland Philharmonia since June 2003.
Douglas holds a Bachelor of Music from Victoria University of Wellington where he studied with Marc Taddei. Following this he studied with Jeffrey Budin and Mark Lawrence graduating in 2000 with a Master of Music degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
He has taught as an Artist Teacher at the University of Auckland for over 10 years and enjoys all aspects of music education.
In addition to his position with the Auckland Philharmonia, Douglas also performs with Bonanza (New Zealand’s premier and only trombone quartet of which he was a founding member in 1997) and Aucktet (Auckland’s very own trombone octet).
