Born in Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia in 1997, Adrian Whitehall has been playing double bass since the age of ten.

Adrian completed his Bachelor of Music (Performance) in 2019, and a Master of Music Studies (Performance) in 2022, both at The Sydney Conservatorium of Music, studying under Kees Boersma, Principal Double Bass of The Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

In 2023, Adrian studied under Damien Eckersley at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) as well as winning the coveted position of Emerging Artist for the Australian Chamber Orchestra under the mentorship of the ACO’s Principal Double Bass Maxime Bibeau.

Adrian has performed extensively with The Sydney Symphony Orchestra, The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, The  Australian Chamber Orchestra Collective, Omega Ensemble, Ensemble Apex, Australian World Orchestra Chamber Ensemble, Moorambilla Voices and The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. In 2025 he joins The Auckland Philharmonia on contract.

Adrian is an open minded musician with a passion for all genres. He has a love of composition with many successful compositions premiered in Australia. Alongside Adrians’ performance repertoire he has a love of writing, commissioning and discovering new works for solo double bass.
