Applications for 2026 are now closed
This annual residency programme, a partnership between Auckland Philharmonia and the University of Auckland, supports aspiring composers in New Zealand to launch their professional careers.
Throughout this year-long programme, the Young Composer-in-Residence is commissioned three orchestral and small ensemble works to be premiered at Auckland Philharmonia Learn & Participate concerts and events. Participants also receive mentoring from the Auckland Philharmonia's Communities Composer.

Who can apply?
- University students
- Advanced secondary school students
- Must be based in New Zealand
- Please note Auckland Philharmonia will not cover travel and accommodation expenses if you are based outside of Auckland
