Apply now for our week-long intensive course for instrumentalists aged 12 – 18. Students are coached through challenging repertoire by a professional conductor before performing at a ticketed concert with their peers and professional Auckland Phil musicians at the weeks’ conclusion at the Bruce Mason Centre.
The week’s structure includes sectionals (Auckland Phil musicians rehearse their individual sections of the orchestra – e.g cello, percussion, trombone etc) and tutti rehearsals (conductor rehearses the full orchestra) with additional small group workshops and games! Lunch and snacks are provided!
FEE: $500* inc GST.

Yes, we have a limited number of scholarship places available (thanks to the Ministry of Education).
There is a check box in the application form. After you submit the form, an email will be automatically sent to you to explain the next steps.
Application is via a written testimony (email or letter, less than 500 words) or you can call us instead.
We will close applications 5pm Friday 14 November.
After that, we send the applications to our Auckland Philharmonia musicians, who decide on the place allocations.
We will then let applicants know of their result by the end of November.
Yes, this year we would like you to submit a video of yourself playing.
Video Requirements:
- Duration: Between 2 and 5 minutes
- File type: Video file or Youtube Link
- Repertoire: Pick a piece that showcases the very best of your musical ability. Excerpts are fine!
- Piano/ Other accompaniment: Not required
