Auckland Philharmonia 2026 Season — Now on Sale!

Hana the Glowworm

Based on the Musical written by Chris Sanders in collaboration with Auckland Philharmonia, follow the journey of Hana, a curious and brave little glowworm with a very bright spirit.

One day, after hearing the beautiful sound of a faraway orchestra flowing through her cave, Hana is drawn to discover where the source of the music is coming from.

She forms an unlikely friendship with a cave Eel and together their adventure begins, beyond the safety of their cave for the first time and deep into the dark night-time forest of Aotearoa.

Along the way, Hana meets many new friends and stumbles across some lost musical instruments that need Hana’s help to get back to their musicians – without them their concert will have to be cancelled.

But beware of the sneaky Stoat that follows Hana and Eel and has other plans for them.

The story is filled with fun and adventure, friendship and music, it’s daring and dangerous!

Can Hana and her friends rescue the concert? How can someone so little save the day?

Hana the Glowworm will inspire us all to find our own light.
