Send us your song for the chance to sing with the Auckland Philharmonia!
The Kōkako Award is part of NZ Children’s Music Awards, as is produced in partnership with Kiwi Kids Music, Auckland Philharmonia and NZ Opera.
This is a competition for children aged 12 and under! The lucky winner will perform their song live with the Auckland Philharmonia in our Tunes 4 Tamariki Christmas concert (Sunday 14th December & Sunday 21st December)
Entry is simple. No need for fully recorded masterpieces. Instead we are looking for heartwarming video entries with the child performing an original song, be that singing along to a backing track, playing an instrument and singing or even acapella.
Once applications close, we’ll select a max of 5 finalists and invite them to a workshop in Auckland where they can meet their fellow songwriters, learn new skills and showcase their song in person.
The next day, the finalists will be invited to the NZ Children’s Music Awards, where we will announce the winner.
Entry is open to all eligible NZ performers who meet the Eligibility Criteria as set out in the Terms & Conditions of Entry.
2025 nominations open Sunday 9 February and close Friday 25 April.
