The Auckland Philharmonia Roth Violin Scholarship is for undergraduate violin students at the University of Auckland School of Music. This scholarship offers promising violinists an opportunity to play the Roth Violin, further their performance skills and gain professional mentorship from Auckland Philharmonia musicians.

If selected, you will receive:

  • Use of the Roth Violin for one year
  • 4x lessons with the Auckland Philharmonia Concertmaster or another Auckland Philharmonia violinist
  • 1x rehearsal ‘side by side’ in one of our community programmes; Sitting alongside an Auckland Philharmonia violinist in a rehearsal call for one of our schools or community programmes
    Possible inclusion in the concert, subject to artistic approval
  • $1000 grant to be used in your studies
  • 2x tickets for an Auckland Philharmonia concert featuring a violin soloist

How can you join?

  • Fill out the application form by clicking on the Register Here button
  • Applicants will need 10-15 minutes of repertoire prepared for the audition
  • A 200–300-word document explaining why you deserve this scholarship
  • A CV, including 2 referees
  • Once your application has been reviewed, you will be invited to audition
  • Applications for 2024 will close on 11 March 2024
