To finish our MTA year, the Friends will be kicking up their heels!
Please join us in welcoming the incredible Andrew Beer, truly a virtuoso violinist who the Friends are lucky to call our Concertmaster. Andrew will be in conversation with Jackie Wilkinson about his very full musical life.
Andrew was born in Vancouver, studied and taught in various American universities, andhas performed as an international soloist and chamber musician. Andrew has been concertmaster with several orchestras in Canada, England, Australia and New Zealand. He is an award-winning recording artist, teacher to private students, and guest teacher to university students at Harvard and McGill Universities.
He is on the selection panel for the Michael Hill Violin Competition. And, most impressively, as an all-round great human, he has been awarded a U.S Congressional Commendation for his work through outreach concerts.
Katherine Hebley, cellist, is also well-known and loved by the Friends. She will be providing very special interactive entertainment to finish our November MTA and celebrate another wonderful year of MTA’s.
Andrew Beer will be the soloist in the Wynton Marsalis Violin Concerto, on 28 November at the Auckland Town Hall at The New Zealand Herald Premier Series: City Lights.
