Conducting Masterclass with Shiyeon Sung

Shiyeon Sung is a trailblazer of her profession, as the first female conductor out of South Korea to make the leap to the podium of internationally renowned orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.

From 2023 she has been the Auckland Philharmonia’s Principal Guest Conductor. She has previously held positions as Assistant Conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Chief Conductor of the Gyeonggi Philharmonic.

We are so fortunate to have her join us for this masterclass opportunity ahead of the numerous concerts she will be conducting with the Auckland Philharmonia this year.

At this masterclass, promising young conductors from the University of Auckland School of Music will conduct the UoA orchestra for Sung and receive feedback in return.
