Auckland Philharmonia’s popular Community Classics concerts give you a chance to hear Auckland’s orchestra for FREE
In 2024 we celebrate music inspired by Shakespeare as his works influenced many aspects of life, arts and culture, including music. We also showcase some young rising stars who are bound to impress with their musical talents.
As a special treat we are thrilled to announce that award-winning French pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet will join the orchestra for the second half of the concert to perform Bartók’s Second Piano Concerto*, conducted by our Principal Guest Conductor Shiyeon Sung.
Gather the whānau together for an uplifting afternoon of music for everyone.
This is a free concert, tickets are not able to be booked in advance. Concert duration is approximately one hour.
*This piece was originally scheduled to be part of the NZ Herald Premier Series: Pictures at an Exhibition concert, in Auckland Town Hall on Thurs 16 Oct, that was sadly cancelled due to a technical fault at the venue.
