Clarinet Masterclass with Steve Cohen

Steve Cohen, father of Auckland Philharmonia Section Principal Clarinet Jonathan Cohen, was the long-time Principal Clarinet and frequent soloist with the New Orleans Symphony and its successor, the Louisiana Philharmonic, as well as the Brevard Music Centre. He has performed as Principal Clarinet with the Seoul Philharmonic, the Texas Opera Theatre Orchestra, Ars Viva Symphony, and Music of the Baroque Orchestra in Chicago. Steve has an impressive history as a professor at Northwestern University, and has hosted masterclasses in Europe, Costa Rica, Japan, Thailand, China, Taiwan, Korea, and all over the United States.

We are so fortunate to have him join us for a masterclass opportunity in Auckland, which will feature a special Q&A for audience members to ask questions about tertiary music education overseas. Steve is an expert advisor for university admissions in the United States, having had 20 years teaching experience at one of the top American universities, making this a unique chance to hear three talented student clarinettists from Tāmaki Makaurau perform while gaining invaluable insight into auditions and studying music abroad!
