Lyell Cresswell - Piano Concerto No 2 'Ach wie flüchtig, ach wie nichtig'

Lyell Cresswell’s ‘Piano Concerto No.2’ a large-scale Creative New Zealand-funded commission of pianist Michael Houston for performance by the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra is today’s Resound film release.

Subtitled “Ach wie fluchtig, ach wie nichtig (Ah how fleeting, ah how subtle)”, the work is a re-imagining of six chorales harmonised by JS Bach.

Johannes Fritzsch conducts the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and Michael Houstoun at the Auckland Town Hall.
