Passione String Quartet Auckland Philharmonia Aspiring Musicians
Somi Kim NZ Trio
The Friends are proud to welcome a string quartet as the third Auckland Philharmonia Aspiring Artists ensemble to our September MTA. Also, in conversation, we will host the incredible pianist, Somi Kim.
The Passione Quartet are Rose Stevenson (violin), Archie Lamont-Bowden (violin), Francesca Fong (viola) and Boudewijn Keenan (cello). The quartet was formed in the University of Auckland’s School of Music at the beginning of 2024.
Somi Kim will be well known to many as the pianist for NZTrio, but there is so much more Somi has achieved! She is an in-demand soloist, chamber musician, accompanist and international prize winner, including the Royal Over-Seas League Accompanist Prize and the Gerald Moore Award for Accompanists. She trains opera singers at the NZ School of Opera and has performed with the winner of the Gisborne International Music Competition every year since 2017.
Somi was also recently awarded the Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM) to recognise her contribution to music.
