Music Librarian

Full-time – permanent: expected start date mid-March 2025

The Auckland Philharmonia is seeking a full-time, experienced Music Librarian who will play a crucial operational role within the organisation: liaising with the Music Director, guest conductors and soloists, the orchestra’s management team and musicians, music publishers, other libraries and orchestras, to ensure that the required music is obtained well in advance of each concert, annotated appropriately and made available to the orchestra at the right time and place before the first rehearsal. The ideal candidate will have wide knowledge of orchestral repertoire, enjoy working with musicians, and have an exceptional eye for detail.

Why you?

Being an Auckland Phil employee is about more than excellence in your chosen field. We’re looking for individuals onstage and off who resonate with our mission to inspire a life-long love of music in the diverse communities we serve. Beyond your qualifications and experience, we also look for how your specific skills and abilities can enhance the Auckland Philharmonia and build into our values. So, even if you don’t think you have a typical career trajectory on your resume, we’d still love to hear from you!

Why Auckland Philharmonia?

With over 60 concerts and events each year Auckland Phil is a busy and vibrant place to work.

This is a fantastic chance to join Auckland’s largest performing arts organisation and use your expertise to ensure we continue to deliver inspiring musical experiences to the whole community.

We believe that you do your best work when you are your whole self, so we have a number of benefits for employees including a flexible work policy, a work from home policy, generous leave arrangements in our summer office closure and an Employee Assistance Programme offering free counselling, health coaching and career advice.

Auckland Philharmonia is on a mission to open doors, and this is embodied in our solution-focused and positive approach to the workplace, commitment to being present internally and externally, and supporting growth through active listening in a judgement-free environment.

What next?

If this appeals to you, please apply in writing with:

  • A letter of application outlining why you are interested in this position
  • Your CV, with an outline of your experience and qualifications

Interviews (in person or online, as practical) will be scheduled as suitable candidates are identified. Early applications are encouraged.

Closing date for applications Tuesday 10 December 2024 (close of business New Zealand time)
